Cspan: “This designation is an opportunity to celebrate the career of Purdue lamb and encourage today’s students to dream big,” said Purdue President France A. Cordova.
Lamb received his BA in Speech from Purdue in 1963 and later received an honorary doctorate from Purdue University in 1986. He founded the network C-SPAN (Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network) in 1977.

The channel began broadcasting television in the U.S. House of Representatives in 1979. Lamb, who still serves as CEO of the network. Today, there are three C-SPAN networks provide coverage any time of political life.
In a news release from the university, Lamb proved its success in political journalism from the beginning. Before C-SPAN, Lamb was chief editor of Media Report, the Washington Office for CableVision magazine, a freelance journalist for United Press International Audio & Public Affairs Officer of the Navy to the Pentagon.
He also served as a social aide at the White House under the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson and the media and congressional relations director of the Office of Telecommunications Policy during the Nixon administration.

“My interest in early radio broadcasting has been fed in Lafayette, for secondary teachers, a number of local business people and professors at Purdue University. Similarly, the board of C-SPAN cable executives have always asked our network involved in education and young people, “said Lamb.
According to Purdue, Lamb has been involved with the university and especially the College of Liberal Arts for a long period. In 1987, Lamb selected Purdue as the original home of the C-SPAN Archives,
which is responsible for materials, indexes and archives of all the C-SPAN for historical, educational and research purposes. C-SPAN Archives is now located in the Purdue Research Park.

“Nationally Purdue we are known for our graduate program and research. We believe that the establishment of the School of Communications Brian Lamb will clearly increase the visibility of undergraduate initiatives.
We also believe that the development of this school will offer new opportunities for our students and faculty to build bridges to other programs at Purdue University, as well as forging links with business and industry media. Obviously, we expect to increase our collaboration with C-SPAN and C-SPAN Archives in Washington. ”
