Finally after lots of twists and turns Kochi set for IPL Match. The April 8 maiden match would be between home teamKochi Tuskers Kerala andRoyal Challengers Bangalore.
The refurbished 52,000-seater Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium will witness the Kerala entry into the high profile Cricket extraveganza. The stadium has been redone at a cost of Rs.8 crore.
Rendezvous Sports World had won the franchisee rights for the Kochi IPL team with a bid of Rs.1,500 crore in March last year. Initially they named the franchisee as "Indi Commandos" and later changed to "Kochi Tuskers Kerala".
The team constitute local boy S. Sreesanth and captain Mahela Jayawardane of Sri Lanka, Australians Steven Smith, Mathew Klinger, Brad Hodge, John Hastings and hard hitting New Zealand batsman Brendon McCullum.
